It was Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu who highlighted the government's commitment to facilitating employment for the state's youth by initiating the purchase of 300 e-buses in the scheme's initial phase.

The objective is to replace approximately 3,000 Himachal Pradesh Government Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses with e-vehicles, predominantly e-taxis, and transition to a fleet of e-buses.

The government is set to procure 350 e-buses soon as part of this initiative. Additionally, in a bid to promote e-buses within the private sector, the government plans to acquire 1,500 e-buses over a span of three years.

As of now, 24 e-bus permits out of a total of 107 have been issued by the government. Under this scheme, the Himachal Pradesh government aims to offer a subsidy of Rs 50 lakh for an e-bus valued at Rs 1 crore.  

 

Charging stations will be installed for charging e - taxi

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu emphasized the ongoing development of infrastructure to support e-vehicle charging across the state. 

As part of this initiative, there are plans to establish 17 e-charging stations specifically designed for E-Taxi vehicles within the next two months.

Moreover, the transport department is actively involved in setting up additional e-charging stations. These charging stations are slated to be accessible at 17 petrol pumps spread across 12 districts.

Additionally, both the transport and electricity boards will play a role in installing charging stations at their respective levels.

This comprehensive network aims to provide beneficiaries with convenient access to charging facilities, eliminating the need for frequent visits to petrol or diesel stations.
