The Modi Administration to Increase the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi twofold! Female Farmers to Receive A Special Benefit Ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: The Modi government is contemplating raising the subsidy to Rs 12,000 specifically for women farmers. Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections scheduled for April-May, the Central government under Modi’s leadership is considering doubling the benefits under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi for women farmers. It’s worth noting that this move is aimed at fostering unity among millions of women farmers across the country. Currently, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi provides a total of Rs 6,000 to farmers annually, distributed in three installments of Rs 2,000 each.

Government Looking for Women Farmers for Incentives

As per reliable sources, the Modi government is contemplating a raise in this program to Rs 12,000 specifically for women farmers.

The proposed adjustment is anticipated to be officially disclosed in the budget scheduled for presentation on February 1. If implemented, this initiative would result in an annual government expenditure increase of Rs 120 billion.

Expected announcement In the Budget

There is an anticipation of significant announcements by the central government in the interim budget. Nonetheless, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently indicated in a statement that the budget scheduled for February 1 will primarily function as a vote on account. Consequently, the likelihood of extensive populist declarations is low.

It’s important to note that the budget presented just before the Lok Sabha elections is referred to as an interim budget. Due to time constraints for the general budget and the impending elections, the government opts for an interim budget, allowing the incoming government to determine the comprehensive budget later on.

Population of farmer families 26 crores

Yet, the Central Government posits that augmenting the Samman Nidhi will constitute a stride towards women empowerment. Nevertheless, both the Agriculture Ministry and the Finance Ministry have declined to provide any remarks on this issue. Presently, the nation has a total of 26 crore farmer families, with women constituting 60 percent of this population.

Modi Government Has Given Rs 2.81 Lakh Crores

Government reports indicate that merely 13 percent of farmers in the country possess agricultural land. Over the past few years, the government has been providing financial assistance to farmers, with a total of 15 installments distributed until November of the previous year. The cumulative disbursement under this scheme has reached Rs 2.81 lakh crore thus far.
