PM Kisan Fraud: A fraudulent incident related to the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been reported in Bihar. A person was informed about a credit of Rs 8,000 to their account, but subsequently, an unknown perpetrator fraudulently withdrew Rs 1.43 lakh from the account on two occasions.
The victim has filed a case against the unidentified fraudster at the cyber police station, and an investigation is currently underway.
The incident occurred on January 2, with the police registering an FIR two days ago and initiating a thorough investigation. Santosh Kumar Singh, a resident of Mehuda in the Nagar police station area, filed the FIR against the cyber criminal.
According to the complaint, on the afternoon of January 2, the victim received a call stating that Rs 8,000 had been credited to their account under the PM Kisan scheme. They were then instructed to verify the transaction by downloading a specific app.
After downloading the app, the victim received a message on their mobile indicating a withdrawal of Rs 99,899 from their account.
Subsequently, on January 5, an additional amount of Rs 24,980 was withdrawn from their second account. Despite extensive efforts, the caller’s identity remains unknown. Consequently, the victim lodged an FIR at the cyber police station on January 10.
PM Kisan Fraud: Wasted Money On the Pretext of App Download
It is important to note that in recent times, cybercriminals have been enticing individuals into their schemes by making calls under various pretexts such as correcting electricity bills, conducting KYC, claiming benefits from the Pradhan Mantri Samman Nidhi, prompting app downloads, or warning about account closures—all with the aim of siphoning money from people’s accounts.
Funds are illicitly withdrawn from these accounts. Despite efforts by the police to raise awareness among the public through internet campaigns and other means to thwart such fraudsters, people are still falling victim to these cybercriminals.
